WEDNESDAY: Westchester Sketchers at Bush-Holley House Museum

October 2nd

The Bush–Holley House is a historic house museum in the Cos Cob section of Greenwich, Connecticut. It was constructed circa 1730 and in the late nineteenth century was a boarding house and the center of the Cos Cob Art Colony.  From the early 1890s until the 1920s the Holley House was the gathering place for a group of artists and writers who were members of the first Impressionist art colony in Connecticut. The Cos Cob Art Colony played a major role in the development of American art. Leading American Impressionist artists gathered to discuss their work and to teach. Among the early members were Childe Hassam, Ernest Lawson, Theodore Robinson, John Henry Twachtman and J. Alden Weir.
