View of the UN and Manhattan skyline from Gantry Park in Long Island City

Long Island City - October 26, 1013

I arrived early to our sketch location and found this tiny old lobster boat docked in a small inlet at the back of the LIC Flea fleamarket.

I moved to the entrance to the fleamarket so I'd be visible as NYC USk arrived. I found this view:

We were joined for this sketch by Fred Chaney who was visiting NY from Perth Australia.  He and his wife Jody wanted to see the skyline so we walked the two blocks to the water:

The St Urban on CPW

Joan and I , being sketchaholocics, wanted to squeeze in one more sketch before driving home. It was getting dark and cold, so we stopped into Starbucks. This guy had such strong features, I sketched quickly before he left.

The girls high school art class with their sketches. The teacher is in the shot, hiding in the back! Y'allcome back now!

It was my first time out with the Urban Sketchers NYC group...
some very nice and talented folks to spend time with on a Saturday morning.
Next time I'll talk to more of you!

Delacorte Theatre
In 2001, I watched Christopher Walken play a memorable Sorin in a production of The Seagull here. Good times.

OK, see you next time.

The View of Belvedere Castle, home to NYC Weather Observatory

Jeff with his large format sketches spread out on the grass

After we had lunch together we went back to Central Park West and sat on benches sketching one of the iconic Beaux Arts apartment buildings that overlook the park.

View from Belvedere Castle. First time in Central Park in the fall in a few years, I was feeling really glad to be back.

A jazz band started playing...can't get much better than that.

 Carmine's for lunch.

Astoria Park

One of the coolest yet lesser known bridges of NYC, The Triboro/RFK Bridge, from the entrance to Astoria Park.

It's neighbor, The Hell Gate Bridge.

Views from The Triboro as I rode across on my bike heading for Washington Heights.
