The Neuberger Museum of Art, located at the heart of SUNY Purchase College, is a vital cultural resource of modern, contemporary, and African art for Westchester County, NY, and beyond. From the mid-century American and African art that form the collection's core to the presentation of contemporary art, the museum continues the commitment of founding patron Roy R. Neuberger (1903-2010) by championing the art of our time.
Host: Marianne Milzoff
Current exhibits include:
Stephen Antonakos: Proscenium
Named for a type of Greek stage, Proscenium — created in 2000 by light artist Stephen Antonakos — animates the vast, darkened space of the Museum’s Theater Gallery with vibrant, saturated color, glowing light, and calligraphic line.Translucid: Art within and throughout
What happens when artists work not with solid stone or heavy paint, but with air, light, and the illusion of space?
Translucid: Art within and throughout brings together striking works from the Neuberger’s permanent collection, including several never before on view. The artists use translucency not just as a material, but as a metaphor—inviting us to see into objects, through them, and even around them.
