Midtown Manhattan and Hoboken
On August 1st, we met at the feet of the Atlas Statue at Rockefeller Center to get a good view of St. Patrick's Cathedral. The bright Saturday afternoon felt festive as tourists and New Yorkers alike visited this popular midtown location.
Next, we went to Paley Park to have lunch and sit in some shade.
After lunch, we went back to Rockefeller Center where I did a view of the Channel Gardens.
On August 8th, we went to Hoboken where I experimented with a fountain pen and Waterman dense black ink (a long-time stationery store staple) and waterbrushes. It was interesting to see how the various colors that create the black ink separate out when diluted with water.

  1. Laura, great to see your sketches from both outings. I love the color ones, but the ink alone looks so dramatic!

  2. As always, your sketches are wonderful. I love what you did with the pen and ink. Would love to see more of these.
