SATURDAY: Sketch the Museum of the American Indian

The National Museum of the American Indian
Located in the historic Alexander Hamilton U.S. Custom House.

 SATURDAY, November 25, 2023

The National Museum of the American Indian is stunning, inside and out, - a NYC's  Beaux Arts masterpiece.  I believe Herman Melville's day job was in this building when it was our Custom House.

The museum always has interesting displays and artwork.  In the past I've been tempted to draw the American Indian artwork but at other times the artwork seemed to end up influencing  the way I was drawing the building and the other sketchers.  Interesting stuff!

The museum is owned by the US Government which means to enter we'll need to pass through a metal detector.  Masks are optional.
