To continue our “Met Gallery of the Month” winter series, let’s explore The American Wing (Gallery 700, Floor 1), where we will sketch sculptures, paintings, building facades, furniture, armor, pottery, or the museum itself…
…and because it’s Valentine’s Day, for those who want to join in a bit of cheeky fun, we’re adding a special one-hour art game at the end of the sketch day. At 1:30pm on the dot, those who want to participate will meet in the Petrie European Sculpture Court (Gallery 548, Floor 1), where Shawne Cooper will lead a Valentine’s-themed take on the Exquisite Corpse drawing game. Instead of settling into one spot, we’ll move together through nearby galleries, drawing from life as we go. You won’t be working alone, and you won’t see the final results until the very end, at Show & Tell. It’s playful, collaborative, a little bit bawdy, and a whole lot of fun. Details will be shared when we gather. All levels welcome. Curiosity required. And yes, everyone who participates gets to take home one collaborative sketch: our Valentine’s Day gift to you.
