Join us for a day of lovely respite from the bustling City. Chuang Yen Monastery is a large Buddhist temple complex located on 225 acres in Putnam County, NY, about 50 miles north of New York City. Chuang Yen means “Majestically Adorned.” This monastery is indeed majestically adorned and welcomes us to artistically render it all. Indoors or outdoors you will surely find something to adorn your sketchbook. The temple houses the largest indoor statue of Buddha Vairocana in the Western Hemisphere.
