Saturday 10/10/26: Weekend Sketchers at The Intrepid as viewed from Pier 84

Situated one pier south of the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, Pier 84 stretches almost 1,000 feet into the River and measures nearly 100,000 square feet, making it one of the largest piers on the Manhattan waterfront. This spot offers incredible views of The Intrepid. If a WWII decommissioned aircraft carrier is not your cup of tea, there is a kayak boathouse, kayakers, a dog run, a pretty cool fountain, a community garden, the Circle Line boats (to the south), and sweeping views of Manhattan and New Jersey!

Please note: our sketching location is on Pier 84- which is one pier south of the Intrepid. Of course you are welcome to go to the Intrepid and just meet us for show and tell at 3pm, but our home base will be Pier 84. The Intrepid has a not-inexpensive entrance fee, gets very crowded with tourists on Saturday, and has very tight quarters, which may not be for everyone. We will be sketching from the comfort of the free park next door, with incredible views… and the weather looks great right now!

HOST: Theresa Michna and Susan Horowitz
DATE: Saturday 10/10/26
TIME: Sketching 10am-3pm | Show and Tell beginning at 3pm.
SKETCHING LOCATION: Pier 84- Which is on the West Side Highway at 44th Street. This is one pier south of the Intrepid.

MEETING SPOT: There will be no official meeting to kick off the day, join your fellow sketchers and just start sketching.
SHOW AND TELL LOCATION: At 3pm meet on the grassy knoll adjacent to the Kayak Boathouse. Check with the host day-of for the exact show-and-tell location.
FOOD, DRINK, RESTROOMS, SEATING: There are restrooms on the pier, lots of benches, and even some tables and chairs. A stool gives you more options, especially if you want to sit in the shade. Food options seem limited and overpriced with bad reviews.
