Sketching the Pier and then the Highline - September 21, 2013

I seemed to focus on the "odd" this Saturday.  

Walking down 40th Street I passed what I believe was once the HQ for American Standard.  I think of them as the toilet bowl manufacturer for the world.  In the place where other buildings would have gargoyles they have near naked people writhing with plumbing parts.  Seems hard to believe but here's a photo:




Diane Arbus is the queen of "odd" photos.  A street graffiti artist used one of her images for a peace poster:



I saw this plastic resin sculpture reminiscent of the Carravagio painting of the Young Sick Bacchus on the Highline



The Sketching day began in Starbucks;



A woman digging in her fringed purse on the Highline



An international woman of mystery skulking about in an unnecessary rain coat, and a woman looking for her companion to show up.
