SATURDAY: Sketch WW-KIP

Saturday June 11, 2022

Read the details - the format for this event is a little different including a later start time

Writing on Wednesday morning the Saturday forecast shows a 40% chance of rain.  Who knows what that might mean, but a good sketch plan for the day needs to include a nearby rain back-up.  No problem!  We've got a great solution.

World Wide Knit in Public Day (WW-KIP) was started in 2005 by Danielle Landes and takes place on the second Saturday of June each year. It began as a way for knitters to come together and enjoy each other's company. Knit in Public Day is the largest knitter run event in the world.  In NYC that event is hosted by Bryant Park.

Being married to an accomplished fiber artist means this is an event I'm very familiar with.  Why should we care?  No one holds a pose better than a knitter.  They can sit happily for hours in the same position.  It is a golden opportunity to practice our people sketching.

For sketchers who are also knitters the NYC WW-KIP is being run by the city's foremost knitting store:  Knitty City

Rain Plan:   If it's raining when you arrive go to the main branch of the library, which is directly behind Bryant Park.  We'll meet in the main lobby.  If it starts to rain while we're in the park that's where we'll go.Hopefully we'll have a lovely day with no weather contingencies.
