Weekday Sketchers at Foley Square

Thomas Paine Park News : NYC Parks
Foley Square
Meeting Spot

Join us this week as we explore an interesting intersection in Lower Manhattan: Foley Square. For anyone who is an aficionado of crime shows based in NYC, this will be instantly recognizable. Law and Order, anyone??

NYC Parks on Twitter: "Did you know there once was a large 60-foot deep pond right in the heart of downtown Manhattan? Collect Pond was filled in all the way back in
Collect Pond Park

This square (actually a triangle) is surrounded by Federal, State and City Court buildings, the NYC Municipal building.  One block away is the newly created Collect Pond Park, celebrating the site of the original collect pond that was the source of fresh water for New Amsterdam.  Or go around the corner and investigate the intriguing monument built on the site of the African Burial Ground.  And lastly visit the wonderful small park on the corner of Lafayette and Worth Streets Next to the US Court of International Trade,  called Jacob Javits Plaza.

Could New York's African Burial Ground National Monument become a full museum?
