Warning! These next sketches are not considered "Urban Sketching" so if you are offended, turn off your computer now! After lunch and another quick market sketch, many of us went to Dr Sketchys. This was my first time, and I am ready to go back! I worked large (19" x 17" paper), and mostly in oil pastel, which I have only used once before.
This first page is the 1 minute warmups.
This next group is a conbination of two minute and 15 minute sketches. The theme was Russian Fairytales.
This last sketch is a total suprise. We were asked to try our non dominant hand. I may become a lefty!
The darks and lights in the bread shop make the objects and the vendor really stand out. I like that one! Glad you enjoyed Dr Sketchy's as much as we did the other time. You did great quick sketches and the one with your non-dominant hand is super! You can't tell you sketched it with the other hand.

DeleteLoved the bread store. The darks make the sketch pop beautifully. It's amazing how smart our non-dominant hand is. It's almost as if the two hands were connected somehow.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mark! How kind of you to think my hand is smart! I think the pressure of a timed sketch, coupled with the fact I don't have the control with the non dom. hand, really helped to loosen the sketch. Something else to explore further!
