The Fulton Center is a transit center and retail complex centered at the intersection of Fulton Street and Broadway in Lower Manhattan.

The Fulton Transit Center opened less than two weeks ago and has been undocumented by sketchers. It feels like the future has arrived and will give you taste of what the NYC Subways System could be. It is a complex space that needs to be explored.
DETAILS:
Where: At the Fulton Transit Center Fulton Street and Broadway in lower Manhattan.
Four Subway lines converge at the Center -

linesWhen: We start at 10 AM. Running late? Come anyway. You'll be able to spot us -we're the ones who are sketching
Lunch: We will break for lunch at noon - 12 PM and walk one block to the Sandwich House located at 17 Anne Street
Afternoon: At 1:15 we will return to the Fulton Station to complete our sketching exploration
Show and Tell: Will start early at 2:45 because of the post sketch event
Post Sketch Event: Definitely not Urban Sketching but of interest to anyone who loves to draw and is up for an Adventure. Dr. Sketchy has an event at Orchard Street from 4-7 PM . You can sign up in advance - or pay more at the door. Click on the link for details.

New York City Fire Museum Sketch

It was a pleasure meeting everyone during my first Urban Sketchers outing. Here are three of my sketches.

Weekday Urban Sketchers in Brooklyn Botanic Garden and Brooklyn Museum
This is the last gasp of fall….a day sketching the last of the colorful trees in the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens. We will meet in the visitors center on Washington Ave and venture into the park. Too cold, no problem. There are wonderful views from the Visitors Center and the Greenhouses. We will the afternoon in the lobby of the Brooklyn Museum where there are outdoor views and lots of statues to sketch. There is even a Statue of Liberty to draw!

Meet at the Visitor Center at the Washington Ave entrance just off the parking lot behind the Brooklyn Museum
Directions:
Subway: 2.3 to Brooklyn Museum Station, B,Q,S to Prospect Park Station
Car: If you want to come by car there is a parking lot behind the Brooklyn Museum that will provide direct access to the meeting spot.

Fire Museum Sketches
Two ball-point pen sketches from the Urban Sketchers' Fire Museum outing on November 16, 2014. These beautiful old Victorian(?) fire engines were so loaded with curlicues and thing-a-ma-bobs that I nearly went cross-eyed! Organizing them certainly was a challenge. The museum is a fabulous place to visit and draw, and the people working there couldn't have been more gracious and kind.
Sketching the Fire Museum
I met Pat on the way to the Fire Museum. We discussed how remarkable it was that NYC had an entire museum devoted to Fire. When we got there it turned out most of the museum was devoted to putting out Fires - a whole new twist. They had fascinating vintage firefighting gear. It was great fun to sketch and the people who ran the museum couldn't have been nicer and more friendly.
And of course no sketch event would be complete without the Mandatory Sketch of Jim. I panicked when he announced he had to leave and I realized I hadn't gotten around to doing mine. I begged him to stay a couple of minutes and he obliged:
