The World Trade Center Memorial

In all the years we've never gone to Ground Zero to sketch.  It's certainly not for lack of respect but because of the sorrow surrounding the events of 9/11.

Many years later the area has changed.  Incredible efforts have been made to create a suitable memorial for what happened. Talented architects and artists have made their contributions.  As a native New Yorker, although the site fills me with sorrow, I can't help but be impressed by the throngs of tourists who visit the site to pay their respects.  It has become a very New York location and will be the site for our sketching explorations this Saturday.

The official name for the area is the National September 11 Memorial & Museum. The memorial is located at the World Trade Center site, the former location of the Twin Towers, which were destroyed during the September 11 attacks.
