Columbia University - Sketching Saturday July 19, 2014

For over 250 years, Columbia University has stood the test of time
& has evolved into not only one of the top Ivy League Schools, but
a Green Utopia in a busy city.

Hosted by Gene Profanoto

Lowe Library

We will meet at 10 am on 116th Street & Broadway Right outside the Gates of College Walk (approximately 20’ from the  #1 Train Subway Station.)

St Paul's Chappel
At the Center of College Walk, you will see Low Library on your Left – North & Butler Library on your Right - South. You cannot get lost on the Campus. It’s divided into Upper Campus; College Walk & Lower Campus.

The 1st sketch from 10 am-12 pm will be all Lower Campus which will include Low Library.
In addition to Low Library, you will have the Centennial Gardens; Van Am Quad etc.
Two types of Snack Places are located in Lerner which also has restrooms & the other Snack Place is Pulitzer -  which used to be known as Journalism  - which I do NOT believe has a Restroom.

Lunch at 12 pm, we will meet up at the Centre of College Walk where we can decide on lunch. We can either go to one of the many restaurants on Broadway, or pick up something from Hamilton’s Deli on Amsterdam & eat in one of the many shaded areas.

At 1:30 pm we will move to the Upper Campus which includes the Amsterdam overpass.

Wien Courtyard
As an aside, as long as it’s before 4pm, the side entrance to the International Affairs Building; Cross Amsterdam, Walk Left, Doors on Right Hand Side – almost Directly Opposite of St. Paul’s Chapel Gates are large Restrooms.
In addition, if you cross Amsterdam Avenue & keep walking straight, on your left past Jerome Greene (Law School) you will come upon some Black Gates that lead to the entrance of Wien Courtyard. Wien Courtyard is also accessible from the Amsterdam Overpass which has some great views.

Pan - Upper Campus

At 4 pm, we will all meet in front of Uris to share our sketches.
