You have two really interesting choices for sketching this weekend.
- You can attend an organized Draw Now! event at the Brooklyn Navy Yard
- Or you can attend the NY & NJ American Society of Landscape Architects sketchwalk.
This post will give you the details of the Navy Yard event.

Growing up in Brooklyn I've always been fascinated by the Navy Yard. It was founded in 1801 by John Adams. It’s huge and covers over 300 acres including 40 historic structures and 3 city landmarks.This should be a fascinating location with fantastic views of lower Manhattan
Lebbeus Woods |
SITU Studio honors the legacy of visionary architect Lebbeus Woods (1940–2012) with an all-day public-participatory DrawNow! drawing workshop on Saturday, June 7, at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. The workshop invites participants to produce a collective artwork on a shared, semi-rigid, drawing surface that will transform into a landscape throughout the course of the day. All supplies will be provided and no experience is necessary!

Where: Join us at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, 63 Flushing Ave., Bldg 132
Note: Entry to the Navy Yard is available at Sands St. and Clinton St.
The Sands Street Entrance is the closest to Bldg 132.
When you get to the gate tell them you’re attending DrawNow! with Situ Studio
When: Workshop 12–4pm
Drinks & Discussion 4–6pm
Also:
- We suggest that you bring a sack lunch and bottle of water.
- The cafe Ted & Honey in Building 92 will also be open during the day.
- Please wear comfortable clothes
How:
- Take the F Train to York Street
- or the A Train to High Street
It will be a about a 15 minute walk to the Navy Yard.
