Sketching the Lotus Garden - Sunday August 3, 2014

I was unprepared for how beautiful the Lotus Garden is.  Sitting on top of a parking garage it's an unexpected urban oasis.

Paradise Above a Parking Garage?

The locked gate was opened at 1 PM and we were permitted to come up the stairs to the garden.

Stairway to the Garden

The first thing you see is a density of vegetation with curved paths that disappear from site.  At the spot where the first path forked  I spotted a statue hidden in the growth.

Because the paths wound around the space it was impossible to see all the sketchers after we came up and found our spots.

I found a pond stocked with fish that had the most brilliant colors.
